Here it is the first custom build, a Schwinn beach cruiser which had been painted in gloss no less! Time to strip it down.
All stripped apart from a very stubborn seat post, nothing a little bit of persuasion can't fix, never have I had to use an acetylene torch and an air chisel o a bike before now.
Wheels were next on the list as they were in a bit of a sorry state, no where near shiny enough.
Starting to strip the wheels I Knew I had my work cut out for me.
With the wheels now stripped, it was time for over 8 hours of sanding, polishing, new nipples and re-lacing
Bored of doing wheels for a while so I turned my attention to the fenders and supports, which were......straight , and not at all rusty.
The fenders were in alright condition not too bent out of shape, but rust and chrome not really the look I want so off to the polishing machine.
Just every bit of this bike painted in gloss.
Things are starting to take shape now, after a bit of hammering and shaping, and a lot of polishing.
more polishing......
A quick re-grease of the bearings, clean the brake drum and shoes. And you guessed it, more polishing!
Wheels, fenders, stem, handlebars all polished and ready to go on, if I never have to polish anything again....
Frame shot blasted no less than 3 times to remove the horrible gloss. It's time for paint, with a super shiny metallic fleck primer
First coats of colour done , candy apple green.
All painted ready to be put together, after weeks of prep (mostly polishing) it's getting exciting.
